This will be a different kind of posting for Police Dynamics, but I am asking for your help in supporting Naqib, one of the Afghan street children I have been looking after for the last couple of years. He has been working near the Embassy everyday selling little trinkets, scarves, and other items to send himself to a private English school. However, because of the travel restrictions that have been placed on our pedestrian travels, most of his customer base has dried up and he had to drop out of school. Now, his parents have moved out of town, essentially leaving him to fend for himself on the streets.
He has reasonably good English skills, but I want to get him back in school and help with his living expenses. It costs about $100 USD per month to keep him in school and he is paying about $50 per month to share a room with two other youths.
A colleague of mine helped set up the Two Sparrows Foundation to help Naqib and other kids like him. I am appealing to my Police Dynamics colleagues to consider supporting Naqib through Two Sparrows.
To make a donation, go to the Two Sparrows website and click on the Donate Now box. In the “purpose” block, write “Naqib’s School and Expenses.” You can use a credit card or PayPal. A little goes a long way here, so even a small donation will help. One time donations are very much appreciated, but Naqib’s needs will be ongoing so consider donating on a monthly basis if possible.
I took this picture of Naqib in 2010. He has grown some since then and is about 15 years old now. But I see a spark in him that I haven’t seen in many of the other kids. Please consider supporting this cause…
